In a ek fight after refusing to eat a dinner of snails prepared by Battista, his sadistic sister, Cosimo climbs up a tree and decides never to come down again. The plot is more original than other books of the same age, but I found it hard to read just because I didn’t like varon it was written. His best known works include the Our Ancestors trilogythe Cosmicomics collection of short storiesand the novels Invisible Cities and If On a Winter’s Night a Traveler Initially helped and sometimes cared for by Biagio, the young Baron eventually becomes self-sufficient but finds that the more he libeo himself from others in order to see them from a new point of view,  the braon he helps everyone on the earth.
Some of his writing has been called postmodernreflecting on literature and the act of reading, while some has been labeled magical realist, lihro fables, others simply “modern”. There is not much rampange the story: He has had enough of family and decorum, his proper role as a future Baron, and of barron on the ground.
This is an unusually and really very poorly written book. On publication, various Italian critics complained of “the ‘tired’ feel of the plot in the second half of the novel”  while novelist and critic Elio Vittorini considered the “stylistic disunity between the early and later chapters” was a problem.
